Transform textile wastage to treasure with Dell'Orco & Villani’s textile recycling machinery

The amount of textile waste produced each year in Bangladesh is worth millions of dollars and at least 3 Twin-Tower can be built with the amount. Unfortunately, textile wastage are being ended up in landfills or exported at a very low price which is commercially not beneficial at all. A very little portion of it is re-used in Bangladesh.

RH Corporation, a sister concern of AZIZ Group, in collaboration with Dell'Orco & Villani – a leading Italian company in recycling equipment for knitted, woven and nonwoven textile waste – has taken the initiative to transform the waste recycling sector of Bangladesh with its highly advanced and uniquely designed machines. It will utilize the millions of dollars worth of waste into usable textiles amplifying the industry profits for a sustainable future for Bangladesh.

In this regard, a seminar titled 'Textile and Garment Waste Recycling Solutions' was organized on 4 May 2023 at AZIZ Group Convention Hall by RH Corporation which was powered by Dell'Orco & Villani. Industry leaders from different textile companies were present at the seminar. The seminar showed various prospects for textile waste using effective business processes.

With the theme ‘Together for a sustainable textile production, let the waste amplify your profit’—to promote 100 percent utilization of textile waste in Bangladesh's textile sector—the mega event assembled industry leaders, where Engr. ASM Hafizur Rahman Nixon, Executive Director, RH Corporation spoke about the current state of textile waste in the industry and future trends and Massimo Pisaneschi, Sales Director, Dell'Orco & Villani spoke about innovations and technologies for textile and garment waste recycling.

Being the second largest manufacturer, the quantities of waste are huge and need to be recycled. RH Corporation and Dell'Orco & Villani are working together to address the current situation of wastage in Bangladesh.

World’s leading textile waste recycling infrastructure provider Dell'Orco & Villani is fully committed to providing 100% recycling solutions to the textile and garment industry of Bangladesh. The 20s to 30s count yarn is possible to make from cotton waste by mixing it with virgin cotton in their recycling machines.

Miraz Feda, General Manager - Operations, HR & Administration, RH Corporation, said, “The international brand Dell’Orco & Villani is working on waste recycling and suggesting to recycle pre- and post-waste, advising to use more sustainable chemicals and dyes and machines that consume less energy.”

ASM Hafizur Rahman Nixon said, “Apparel industry contributed 42.61 billion dollars in 2021–22. Nearly 100 billion pieces of garments are made each year, and Bangladesh produces 32 million tons of textile waste every year from it. With this wastage, 1124 Empire State Buildings can be built or with this value, we can build at least 3 Twin-Towers here. About 87% of the waste materials end up in land-fill and 2% only is reused.”

By moving to a circular system in the industry, Bangladesh can unlock a $560 billion economic opportunity. Recycling helps reduce the use of water, chemicals, and pesticides. Bangladesh has a great opportunity to create value through recycling. It imports around $4 billion dollar worth of raw cotton every year, whereas recycled yarn is 15–30% cheaper than yarn made from raw cotton. Potential additional exports of $4 billion can be created per year, considering import subsidies.

Dell'Orco & Villani’s highly advanced recycling machines and their unique features can be a good choice for textile waste recycling.

Massimo Pisameschi showed how they are suitable for both small-scale production and large-scale production using minimum energy and maximum output. It has a separate mechanism for individual parts of the machine, which is energy-saving.

Dell'Orco & Villani and RH Corporation are providing solutions to non-woven innovation for waste as well. It is already in a project with brand Nike.

In Dell'Orco & Villani recycling machines, it has some unique features like a drum with a bigger diameter, a lower number of rpm, less pin friction, a lower pin temperature, immediate rejection of contamination, etc. that make them unique from other machines. It ensures 99% blending precision with the required gsm and quality.

EU countries will now be required to recycle at least 55% of municipal waste by 2025, 60% by 2030 and 65% by 2035. Awareness is being created gradually in Asian countries and others as well.

With the vision ‘Let’s Grow Green and Build an Eco Bangladesh’ – it is high time to merge recycling plants in textile factories to excel in all aspects. For a more stable revenue outline, recycling can be the best solution for textile industries.
