The 6th season of Textile Talent Hunt, TTH 2017-18 coming to an end with Grand Finale and Award Giving Ceremony

After a series of activities, grooming, training and in-depth research works of almost two years, the 6th season of Textile Talent Hunt, TTH 2017-18 is coming to an end on 4th August 2019. The Grand Finale and Award Giving Ceremony will be held at 5 PM on the day at Family Lounge, Uttara Club, Dhaka.

At the very end of the long competition process, best five talents will present the outcome of their research project at the Grand Finale Event. Judges will select the Champion, Runners Ups and other winners based on the credibility, impact and performance of the participants and their projects.

Textile Talent Hunt is an initiative of Bangladesh Textile Today organized in association with Bangladesh University of Textile (BUTEX) & The Textile Institute (TI). It is the first ever talent grooming competition for the undergrad students studying in textile garments and fashion in different universities.

The program focus is to prepare future leaders to adopt the latest developments by involving them in research or knowledge generation projects in a modern approach through different grooming and training activities.

After its inception in 2008 Textile Today successfully has completed TTH 2009, TTH 2010, TTH 2012, TTH 2013 & TTH 2015, and now going to conclude the 6th season of Textile Talent Hunt, TTH 2017-18 with a greater impact and results.

Tareq Amin, Editor and Publisher of Bangladesh Textile Today and the organizer of TTH expressed, “TTH truly has been so engaging and demanding that this season taking about two years to complete. And I think that is the specialty of Textile Talent Hunt as it is not just gathering and talking and picture taking the program. It is indeed an intensive incubator that grooms’ talents to electrify in revealing their excellence.”

“The biggest difference is made by the talents who had to remain focused and active through so long time. I am giving a big kudos to all the participants, the best 50 and especially to them who completed their research work.,” he said.

Congratulating to top 5 who are still holding in the competition he commented, “I am really looking forward to seeing a great presentation battle in the grand finale to be held on 4th August 2019.”

Professor Md. Abul Kashem, Vice-Chancellor, Bangladesh University of Textiles will be present there as Chief Guest where Prof. Syed Fakhrul Hassan, Chairman, School of Science & Engineering and Chairman, Dept. of Textile Engineering, Southeast University; Abdus Sobhan, Managing Director, Auko-Tex Limited; Md. Hasib Uddin,  Chairman, APS Group; Abdullah Hil Rakib, Managing Director, Team Group; ATM Mahbubul Alam Chowdhury, Executive Director, Masco Group; Amanur Rahman; Director, Dysin Group; A S M Hafizur Rahman Nixon, Chief Operating Officer, Swiss Colours Bangladesh Ltd. will attend as Special Guests.

Prof. Dr. Engr. Ayub Nabi Khan, Vice-Chancellor (Acting), BGMEA University of Fashion & Technology will chair the program.

TTH 2017-18 best five researchers who will compete in the Grand Finale are Md. Sadman Sakib, Rashedul Islam, Nipa Khair, Fahmida Faiza Fahmi, and Md. Abdus Salam.

All five talents are from the Bangladesh University of Textiles. Their research subject is respectively ‘Development of e-textile at low cost wirelessly controlled pulse acquisition system and vibration system for relaxing’; ‘Energy harvesting from the human body-movement during walking by integrating piezoelectric PVDF film in the garment’; ‘Potato starch-based warp yarn sizing: new ray of hope for the rural farmers of Bangladesh’; ‘Design development of agro-textiles for cultivation of lateral spread rooted plants through soilless vertical farming’ and ‘Design and development of smart personal floatation device with location tracking’.
