Turkey has increased its apparel export to Middle East by more than 10 percent in the first half of this year (H1) to $0.80 billion during January to June 2022 from $0.73 billion during July to December 2021. However, in 2020, the apparel export industry from Turkey could not fully recover from the losses due to Covid-19.
During Covid-19, the exports decreased to $1.29 billion in 2020 from $1.80 billion of 2019 which was $1.73 billion in 2018 and $1.74 billion in 2017. After Covid-19, the export rose to $1.46 billion in 2021.
According to the available data, on half-year basis Turkey exported $0.72 billion in H1 2021, $0.66 billion in H2 2020 and $0.62 billion in H1 2020.
Looking ahead, Turkey is positioning itself to be a major garment supplier to not only Europe and the US, but also the Middle East.
