TÜV Rheinland celebrates 150th founding anniversary

Technology is meant to benefit people, not harm them – this has been the core principle of technology monitoring since TÜV Rheinland was founded on 31 October 1872 in Germany. And recently, TÜV Rheinland celebrated its 150th founding anniversary on 24 October at the Dhaka Sheraton hotel. More than 300 customers from Textile and other sectors were present at the anniversary program.

On its inception, Textile manufacturers joined forces to form the ” Verein zur Überwachung der Dampfkessel ” (Steam Boiler Monitoring Association) in Elberfeld and the Bremen district, one of the most heavily industrialized regions in Germany at the time. Their aim was to reduce the number of accidents involving steam boilers by having boilers independently and professionally tested by engineers working for the association. This first Steam Boiler Monitoring Association (DÜV) in the Rhineland region eventually evolved into TÜV Rhineland.

Currently, TÜV Rheinland is working in more than 50 countries of the world. It started its journey in Bangladesh in 2011. Over the past 11 years, TÜV Rheinland Group has been providing quality testing, inspection and certification services to more than 70 world-renowned brands and their manufacturing partners. Above all, it has contributed significantly to the textile, leather, footwear and other industries of Bangladesh.

In celebrating 150th anniversary, TÜV Rheinland Bangladesh Managing Director Saiful Islam Khan expressed his gratitude towards the stakeholders, associations, owners of brands, agents, importers, textile, garments, footwear manufacturers and their associations. He also conveyed his gratitude to the Government of Bangladesh for creating a proper business environment in Bangladesh. He also appreciates every colleague for their hard work, sacrifice and commitment and reiterates its commitment to overcome the further challenges of Covid-19 and the recent impact of the Ukraine crisis.

Benedikt Anselmann, Executive Vice President, TÜV Rheinland India-Middle East-Africa and Bangladesh, said, TÜV Rheinland is experiencing excellent growth due to its commitment to valued customers and the dedication of its experts worldwide. He also said that TÜV Rheinland wants to be the best trusted independent service provider in the world.

High officials and representatives of Bangladesh German Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BGCCI), Bangladesh Garments Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BGMEA), Bangladesh Knitwear Manufacturers and Exporters Association (BKMEA) were present on the occasion along with the Top management members of TÜV Rheinland Group.

The event ended with a cultural program. Bangladeshi performers showcase the culture and traditions of Bangladesh through their visual arts at cultural events.
