Sheikh H M Mustafiz, Managing Director of Cute Dress Industry Ltd – world’s 9th greenest factory–expressed his disappointment owing to not having his company name in the list of 15 readymade garments (RMG) factories nominated to get the government announced Green Factory Award.

Recently, Labor Ministry said that Bangladesh government decided to honor 15 readymade garments (RMG) factories with the Green Factory Award in six categories for their extraordinary contribution to saving the environment and creating jobs.
Cute Dress Industry Ltd is the LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environment Design) certified factory in the Platinum category.
In his LinkedIn post Mustafiz wrote that his factory applied for this recognition and the company got the highest marks in the field report.
However, despite being one of the top ten factories in the country, he could not achieve this recognition for corruption in the recognition process, he claimed in his post.
Bangladesh’s textile and apparel industry set a benchmark of sustainability by reaching 150 LEED-certified Green factories. Of them, 44 are platinum-rated, 93 gold-rated and 9 are silver-rated.
